A story told through sound and pictures
Dégout is an extraordinary musical piece that was created when Photographer/Director Maarten Groen developed a series of photos on 35mm film and asked jazz musician Myrthe van de Weetering to compose a unique soundtrack to accompany them. From here a critically acclaimed album was created that matches the same parameters as the photos in term of speed, rhythm and energy and draws inspiration from the legendary Miles Davis film noir album ‘Ascenseur pour l’échafaud’.
We wanted ‘Dégoût’ to be a unique piece: a story told through sound and pictures. It really was an exercise in restraint: using minimal typography and only a small selection of the captivating photographs
I challenged myself in telling a story in one roll of 35mm film. Meticulously planning every single shot, and absolutely no digital retouching allowed
